About The Prince Alfred's Guard Museum

The Prince Alfred's Guard Museum is situated in Port Elizabeth and is a city regiment which was founded in 1856. The museum is housed in an old Victorian Drill Hall that has been restored and declared a national monument. There are military exhibits that can be seen in the Drill Hall.

The regiment was used in 1860 for protecting Prince Alfred, Queen Elizabeth's second son, while on a visit to Port Elizabeth. It has been used as the regiment's headquarters ever since and is a satellite of the Port Elizabeth Museum Complex.

Visits to the museum can be made by appointment.
