The Glasgow Pont Hotel

© Glasgow Pont Hotel 2008

Description

A real old Bo Karoo Hotel with a long bar, pillared verandah and a tin roof, just off the banks of the Orange River and four km's from the mighty Gariep Dam Wall and its 365,000 hectare fresh water lake.

"The" place for authentic Karoo Lamb country cooking - a regional speciality at the "Pont" since 1857!

Accommodation for most tastes and pockets ranges from back packer bunk to pet friendly family en-suite and everything in between. A real antidote to modern hotel "products" where fly fishermen, the travel weary, star gazers, sailors, motor bikers have already discovered a real oasis of friendly hospitality, great country cuisine and lots of Karoo capers to make every visit an adventure!

We hire out hobi cats sail boats for the Lake and rubber ducks for the Orange River as well as horse trail safari rides, Anglo Boer War battlefield walks and the best fly fishing spots to be found anywhere.

Just off the Johannesburg - Cape Town -Port Elizabeth arterial routes, Norval's Pont is located at the very centre of the RSA where the Eastern and Northern Cape Provinces meet the Free State at 1250 metres altitude under sparkling pollution free skies.

Check-In  01:00 PM   Check-Out 10:00 AM

Location: We are perfectly suited to the overnight traveler on their way between Gauteng and the Cape Provinces, as we are halfway.

Historical & Cultural: The Hotel has served travelers since 1857. We are also situated close to the Norvalspont Concentration Camp.

Pets Permitted: Pets are always welcome. We can also accommodate larger animals in our paddocks.
