The surrounding Cederberg Wilderness Mountains is covered in snow during winter months and flowers during spring. The distance is about one and three-quarters of an hours’ drive from Cape Town and 4 km from Citrusdal farm village. Experience totally private accommodation at the farm with one mountain cottage with a swimming pool for summer months and fire place for winter months on top of the Middelberg pass with 360 degree Panoramic views over River valley, Citrusdal and the Wilderness area.
The Unique setting of this secluded cottage with beautiful 360º views over Oliphants river valley to the west and to the east of the Cederberg Widlerness area is the Perfect romantic hideaway for honeymooners, couples and families. Visit this totally private 28ha holiday farm with only one cottage for total privacy to escape from city life and experience country air, openness, tranquillity and solitude.
The cottage is environmental friendlier as it works on solar power for Fluorescent bulbs and gas for fridge/freezer, geazer and stove has two rooms, one with queen-size bed and second with two single beds. All the beds of course have cotton percale bedding and towels. Burglar bars have been added for an extra sense of privacy and security for this very private cottage. The living room with its high beam ceiling and mohair sofas are arranged near the fireplace and compliment the relax atmosphere of the cottage and its spacious natural surroundings.
Romantic Lanterns to be used either at the dinner table, swimming pool at night or outside dining area at the fireplace under the stars compliments the tranquility and warmness of the cottage. The cottage is covered under eucalyptus trees to allow it to still be cool during hot summer months. The terrace overlooks the valley and with its hammocks positioned in trees is ideal spot for your afternoon siestas with panoramic views over valley the perfect spot for sundowners and to light up a braai. On the other side of the valley, the Oliphants Mountains seems weightless in the haze. Other visitors to the indigenous Fynbos and succulent rock garden include, butterflies birds like, francolins, sugar-birds, barn owls, veroux Eagle, falcons and dragonflies.
The Plunge pool, which is 60m from the house with pool lounger compliments, the laid back relax feeling of the farm cottage. The outdoor bamboo hot shower also compliments the natural feeling that the cottage creates. Cool of in the pool or stretch out on a lounger/Hammock, choice is yours. The Bathroom and kitchen has been newly done in a rustic earthy undertone with furniture from brandy oak barrels to compliment the environment friendly character. The Bathroom has a shower and another outside Bamboo shower for the naturalist and more adventurous.
Activities include: Bird watching, day dreaming, landscape painting, hiking around Fynbos escarpment, mountain biking on farm roads please hire in advance or go into Citrusdal village for a round of Golf, Quad bike, Paint ball or horse Riding.
