Description

Still Waters self-catering accommodation is a beautiful and peaceful place situated on the banks of the Velorenvlei Bird Reserve, approximately 5 km from Elands Bay with its famous left break waves and pristine beaches. There is over a hectare of extensive gardens and grounds with spectacular views over Velorenvlei and surrounding countryside. The accommodation consists of two historical buildings situated approximately 50 meter apart.

The Pool House was the original stable block, with the original ring wall still being a feature, and is now a very spacious three bedroom house with a large lounge and dining room, a spacious kitchen, bathroom, shower room and two toilets. The Pool House can also be used to provide three separate lock-up double bedrooms and a dormitory with single beds and shared accommodation for surfers and travellers. There is an indoor braai room\4th children’s bedroom with a sofa bed sleeps two so enabling the pool house to sleep up to 12 people in total.

The Farmhouse was built over 150 years ago, steeped in character, with oregon pine beamed ceilings, stable doors and old fireplaces. The property has been subdivided into five spacious units, each having their own character and features.

The large swimming pool is for all of our guests to enjoy and we also have a volleyball/babminton area, and large gardens to explore. Still Waters also has a bar, a lovely restaurant, rentals of canoes, quad bikes and horse riding. It is the perfect location for small or large group bookings, conferences, weddings and company team building weekends. Whether you just want to come for a relaxing and peaceful getaway, or for an action-packed holiday, Still Waters has it all. The swimming pool is only available for use from November to end April.

All our facilities including a huge, farm style swimming pool available in summer months, braai areas, extensive gardens and next doors' facilities a few minutes stroll away, are all available to our guests. There is also a bird hide on the river with viewing deck and 3 metre servitude to access the water opening in October 2011.

Character: Still Waters was originally part of an old farm so the buildings are historic with thick mud walls, oregon pine ceilings and stable doors, giving a real farm experience.

Great Outdoors: Enjoy the swimming pools, quad bikes, kayaks, horse riding, fishing and birdwatching and sailing on the vlei. The beach is 5 km away with a left break for all surfers and there is also cycling and walking.

Historical & Cultural: The farm house is over 150 years old and our neighbours own an eco-tourism farm with many historic buildings for you to explore, including their wonderful restaurant and bar in a 300 year old barn, available to our guests.

Disabled Friendly: All our rooms and units are on the ground floor and are wheelchair accessible.

The sofa converts to a single bed if required. There is a separate, fully equipped kitchen with fridge/freezer, mini oven, and microwave oven. The en-suite bathroom has a double shower. The private covered veranda has a table and chairs as well as Weber braai for your enjoyment.

Double doors lead out onto a lovely shaded veranda with a dining area, braai area and amazing views across the gardens, fields and Velorenvlei lagoon. The entire farmhouse can be rented out for large groups, sleeping a total of 21 people.

My friend and I stayed at Still Waters for two nights on a mini surf safari. The accommodation was good - nice clean apartments which were basic but suitably stylish! Location is great if you want to be near the vlei rather than the beach. It is also next door to Venstersklip Guesthouse which has "alternative" restaurant/bar if, and it is also less than 5 minutes drive to the elands bay town centre. price per night was reasonable and the lady who booked us in Lettitia, was helpful ... more
