Otters Den welcomes you to our secluded self catering cottages, which are set in 18 acres of unspoilt countryside in the heart of the arts and crafts route of the Midlands Meander, near Nottingham Road in Kwazulu Natal.

We have four freestanding newly built thatched cottages: Chelsea, The Great Western, Ikhwela and Copper, each with a private balcony overlooking the Lions River. Each cottage is for two people and has an en suite bathroom with its own jacuzzi spa bath. Each self-catering cottage comes with a fully equipped kitchen including microwave, two plate stove, fridge/freezer, toaster, and Weber braai. There is also a dining and lounge area, table and chairs on the balcony as well as queen sized double bed and private carport. For cold nights all cottages have an electric fire and electric blanket with goose down duvets. All utensils, crockery and glasses are included and all linen and towels are supplied. Every cottage also comes with a welcome pack including tea, coffee, sugar, milk and delicious homemade biscuits.

We also have Copper Cottage which is our romantic open-plan honeymoon suite with its own private river view jacuzzi spa bath, situated at the foot of a queen-sized double bed.

Each cottage has a separate double bedroom with a queen size double bed. The bathroom has a jacuzzi spa bath and full separate shower. The toilet is separate from the bathroom there is a combined living and kitchen lounge area and a door leading to the balcony overlooking the river.

We spent the long weekend at Otters Den and it was amazing. We loved every minute of it. The accommodation is great, it made us feel relaxed and recharged our "batteries" We will be back there soon.

Amazing Jacuzzi bath. Well situated along the meander. Nice owners. Great view and great bed. No oven though. But everything was really great.

The cottages are in a beautiful setting and well equipped. We were made to feel welcome. It is a great place to explore the Midlands Meander. I would recommend Otters Den to anyone who likes the tranquillity of the country with no TV or Wi-Fi.
