A gem of a guest house
Steve & Helen Tye, United Kingdom
13 February 2012
From the moment we were welcomed by Hennie and Sandra, we felt at home at the charming Oude Huize Yard. Set in a beautiful garden, and with a wonderful view of the Platberg, the house is full of history and character. Our only regret is that we only got to stay for one night! Thank you Hennie and Sandra for your hospitality, and sharing your beautiful home.
Awesomely homely!

We were welcomed and made to feel at home from the very first, to the very last moment. The room was neat and the décor fitted superbly. The breakfast was top notch and the bottle of apricot jam was the cherry on top for a fantastic stay at De Oude Huize.

A real gem

If you are looking for the best mix of traditional and eclectic in the Free State, this is it. From the minute we arrived, the welcome was genuine and warm. We enjoyed the superb views from the garden loungers of the mountains, and a fire in the bedroom after dinner. Such a treat. Rooms are amazing, full of artifacts, antiques and curiosities. Oil lamps were lit in the evening and we had a fabulous meal. Great service. Seemed a shame it was only a one-night stop.
